Our nation has just experienced several momentous events in the past month: America Reads the Bible, the National Day of Prayer, the Jewish American Heritage Shabbat, and Rededicate 250. I’m sure I’m not the only one in awe of what has occurred in 2026. I know God will use these events to grow the revival that is stirring and the reformation that is inevitable. Here is a list of, and reports on, what has happened in our country since April.
America Reads the Bible:
April 19–25, 2026
Over 500 American citizens participated in reading the Bible at the Museum of the Bible, on the National Mall, and across our country through America Reads the Bible. It was a historic initiative of publicly reading the entire Bible—from Genesis to Revelation—over the course of one week to celebrate 250 years of the Bible in America.
The White House declared:
“America Reads the Bible Initiative invites all citizens to once again acknowledge our Nation’s extraordinary Biblical foundations and to give thanks for the countless ways in which God has been the sacred source of our unity and national strength. This one-week event, during which leaders in faith, Government, business, and entertainment will read every verse and chapter of the Bible, will inspire countless citizens to rediscover the Biblical truths that have animated our Republic for two and a half centuries and to pray that the Bible will continue to guide us—as individuals, as a people, and as a Nation—for the next 250 years and beyond.”
National Day of Prayer:
May 7, 2026
The 250th anniversary National Day of Prayer marked the 75th annual observance. Americans across the country gathered in churches, parks, statehouses, and through virtual broadcasts to participate in communal prayer and reflection.
The White House published this message concerning the National Day of Prayer:
“…This National Day of Prayer, we proudly recommit to our magnificent birthright of faith. I encourage all Americans to come together today in prayer, reflecting on the many blessings God has given our Nation and asking for His continued protection, with ceremonies, events, and programs in their houses of worship and places of work, schools, and homes. Above all, we pledge that America will always, as it is written in Psalm 96, ‘Tell His glory among the nations’—and that we will never forget God’s role in creating, protecting, and sustaining the freest, strongest, most prosperous, and greatest country the world has ever known.”
Jewish American Heritage Month Special Shabbat:
May 15–16, 2026
How many times have we used the term “Judeo-Christian” faith in America? It reflects the roots of Christianity stemming from the Jewish faith. It is very appropriate that President Trump’s May 2026 declaration for “Shabbat 250” marked the first time a sitting American president formally used an official executive proclamation to encourage the specific observance of the Jewish holy day of Shabbat.
Again, the White House proclamation states:
“…In special honor of 250 glorious years of American independence and on the weekend of Rededicate 250—a national jubilee of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving—Jewish Americans are encouraged to observe a national Sabbath. From sundown on May 15 to nightfall on May 16, friends, families, and communities of all backgrounds may come together in gratitude for our great Nation. This day will recognize the sacred Jewish tradition of setting aside time for rest, reflection, and gratitude to the Almighty…”
Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving: May 17, 2026
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the National Mall was the scene of a historic gathering as Americans from every background across the country prepared for the nation’s 250th birthday with Scripture, testimony, prayer, and the rededication of our country as One Nation under God. This event was part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations proclaimed by President Trump. The date was chosen specifically because it marked exactly 250 years since the Continental Congress called for a national day of fasting and prayer in 1776.
The three pillars of the day were:
Pillar I — The Miracles that Made Us:
A reflection on God’s providence throughout 250 years, honoring the faith that inspired America’s founders and has carried us forward in every generation since.Pillar II — The Miracles Still in Our Midst:
Personal testimonies of God’s healing in our lives and in our land.Pillar III — A New Birth of Faith and Freedom:
A collective expression of gratitude for 250 years of freedom—and a unified moment of rededication asking for God’s blessing, guidance, and grace for the next 250 years.
These are more than just events—these are once-in-a-lifetime national milestones.
It is to that point that I remind you that Geobound has been preparing for this season in history for many years. We have labored intensively in prayer, as well as in building curriculum for discipleship and Bible training. As the Lord continues to shift the atmosphere in America, we are praying for the coming hour when Geobound will be vital in the reformation of America.
Thank you for remaining faithful in supporting all our efforts,
Rod and Celeste Groomer
